Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a program designed to help find peace of mind through the comprehensive cultivation of present moment awareness.

A MBSR course combines training in mindfulness meditation, mindful movement, body scan, as well as daily living practices, such as while eating, having a conversation or brushing your teeth.

This challenging and rewarding program consists of one group session of two and a half hours per week, for eight weeks, with an additional all-day silent session between weeks six and seven.

Group sessions take place in a comfortable space, where a safe and conducive atmosphere for sharing and learning is provided. In case you choose to enrol on an online course, we will be meeting via Zoom.

Every week a new topic will be introduced, around which a series of exercises will be practiced. Topics will focus on the body, perception, communication and stress.

Between each meeting, participants are required to practice for 6 days a week. Only with regular practice will people meet the changes they are seeking. After the course, participants will keep all study materials so that they may continue practicing as they wish.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction was developed in 1979 by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and his colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center’s Stress Reduction Clinic. Although largely based on traditional contemplative practices, MBSR is a secular program that, due to its remarkable effects assisting people with stress, anxiety and pain, has become an object of profound research in scientific laboratories worldwide. Recent scientific findings demonstrate how practicing mindfulness meditation can impact the mind, the body, our behaviour and relationship with our own selves and the world in ways that may promote health and well-being.
